Life over the last almost six years, well has been a struggle, especially with a ill spouse..... It has changed my life forever. You never know what life is about until something so life changing happens to you and your family, that life turns into the great challenge. Illness affects the whole family - the patient, spouse, and children.
You learn to count your blessings, take the good out of the bad and know that somewhere out there - someone is worse off than what your current situation is.
In order to deal with life you have to manage wearing different hats, have you ever thought out how many hats you wear and manage? This week I made a list of hats I wear and manage through out a days time:
My favorite hat to wear is being a Mother. The great gift from God is children. That is the nearest thing to Heaven for me, A CHILD. Ken and I have been blessed with two beautiful, healthy children.
From there this will lead you through my closet of many other hats. I am also a Father at times, Nurse, Protector, Sounding Board, Fan, Magician, Cook, Maid, Lover, Individual, Teacher, Taxi Cab Driver, Maid and Organizer.
But we must remember this always - DO NOT loose the most important hat of all, the Comedian. Laughter the greatest anti-depressant and stress reliever of all times. If you don't have a sense of humor, you are doomed!
The most hardest hat not to be able to manage or wear is the Healer. I so want my husband to get better. If I were given on wish, it would be take my Kenny better, for him to be whole again. But with that you have to keep your faith, pray, and know that God will see you through the challenges that come your way. He has a plan, we may not see the plan now or immediately following, but someday when we least expect it, he will lead us to that path of healing for Ken.
Today I want to thank all of our family and friends that have been through everything with us. The good, the bad, the ugly. That have been of great support during these trying times, that drop everything to help when it is needed, and don't judge or give us grief when it is not needed. You are our family and we love you all. You are our sunshine when are days seem dark and lonely. You know who you are and we thank you. I think there is another hat for you - the Angel.

A Great Weekend of FUN!
Last weekend was a blast!!!!!!!!
Movie night, Rock N' Roll & Karaoke Bowling and Sunday, the children & I went with our friend Andy and his daughter Kayla, to Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend, Washington.
In 1897 the fort was built from what was originally a coastal military installation, and remained in operation until 1953. It was purchased in 1955 by the Washington State Parks system and turned into a fabulous 434 acre recreational site with two miles of coastline. During the self guided tour around the park, all ages enjoy seeing the barracks, officer quarters, and underground artillery bunkers. And for our Movie buffs, you will recognize the grounds as "Fort Ranier Naval Training Base" from the 1982 Richard Gere movie An Officer and a Gentleman.
We hiked up the hillside to the top bunkers, where the kids took off running. Up and down ladders, playing hide n' seek in the bunkers, touring the other property, running through tunnels as your footsteps echo'd behind them.
Enjoy the pictures.

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream For Ice Cream
That all time summer favorite.... for 100's of years, it has been enjoyed by millions worldwide. We all remember the excitement of being told, "We are going to go get ice cream." The imaginations soar with ideas of whether you are going to have a ice cream cone or sundae. What creation of ice cream you where going to make ~ from ice cream flavors and toppings?
While the children were out in the yard the other evening, they started shouting for Ken and I, "Mom and Dad the ice cream man is coming!" They had their friends staying over night, so I had four children rallying for a special treat. I could hear the music, but in the back of my mind I was also wondering, why in the world would the ice cream man be coming around at such an hour? So we walked out to the front of the house and looked down the street - NO ICE CREAM MAN. But I could hear the music, so I told the children he must be down on the other side street. So we waited another 10 minutes and still NO ice cream man.
I told the kids I am not sure what is wrong, maybe he forgot to stop on our street. So walking back to the back yard, we could still hear the music. I look over and I stopped to listen and from the neighbors porch was the music we were hearing. Our neighbors had their baby out in her walker / saucer and the music was playing away. We all got a laugh out of that, and DQ saved the day with ice cream sandwhiches.
